We'll miss you, Nick!
In case you missed all of our Twitter messages (tweets, whatever) about Barack Obama staying down the street from us in Kailua Beach, you can read the official news report in the Honolulu Advertiser. The photo above includes almost everyone from the house we were staying in, and Beau was quoted in the article.
I'm not in the photo because I had just left, but earlier that morning, around 6:30am, I was walking down the beach when I noticed some camera lenses pointing my way, in the opposite direction of the house where Obama was staying. Realizing he must have been somewhere behind me and on his way back to his house, I sat down on the beach and waited. A minute later, Barack Obama came jogging by, shoeless and surrounded by Secret Service.
Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me, but Obama was slim and healthy-looking and wore a white running shirt and baggy black shorts. Apparently the proper beach attire for the Secret Service is khaki pants with a short sleeved, white polo shirt. You can even mix it up by having some modest stripes on your white polo. Which is why I'm a little suspicious of my coworker Andy Wibbels today.
